Inside our Rohingya response: Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char

Two sites, one displaced community

Cox's Bazar is home to the world's largest refugee settlement, sheltering nearly a million Rohingya refugees who fled Myanmar since 2017. A portion of that population has since been relocated by the Bangladeshi government to Bhasan Char, an island in the Bay of Bengal built up specifically for resettlement. ABFD works across both sites.

What we deliver on the ground

In the Cox's Bazar camps, our partners repair storm-damaged shelters ahead of monsoon season, maintain clean water points, and refer families to healthcare when camp clinics are overwhelmed. On Bhasan Char, where services are still being built out, we fund learning spaces for children and support water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure.

This work is slow and unglamorous, but it is the difference between a family surviving the next cyclone season and losing everything again. Thank you for making it possible.
